Françoise is in pre-trial custody for murder since 2014 with her 4 years old son. She does not have a lawyer to follow her case.  A former farmer and yam retailer in the local market, Françoise waits for her release to start a new life in her village in Njugu.  

”Since the first day of my incarceration, my husband does not talk to me anymore.  As per the children, I will go with my small MBUKANA MAKI Dieu-merci who is in detention here with me. The other ones, I will leave them with their father, he has more [financial] means than I do to take care of them.

If she was economically free, she would take her children with her.
