Régine was arrested on 20 October 2015 for homicide, and was later sentenced to 3 years imprisonment. She is a 60 years old farmer and a mother of 2. Régine has spent more than half of her sentence in detention, and she is suffering from tuberculosis.
As per Congolese laws, Régine is eligible to conditional release. However, Régine has no lawyer to follow her case.
All Régine wants is to go back to her 7 children. “As for what I will do upon my release, or how I will cover for the needs of my family, God will find a way. All I want is to get out of this detention house.”
